School’s out, and there’s nothing more fun than a day out at the beach with the kids!Dress your kids for a day outdoors doing what kids do best -- play. For little girls, think floral printed rompers, colourful sandals, bucket hats, pretty printed swimsuits, and cutesy animal bags for their own treasures. For boys, go nautical with a french striped shirt paired with board shorts emblazoned with ravenous sharks. Top off with blue plimsolls, printed swim shorts, and sunnies to match.

And don’t forget the sunscreen!

All kids love being at the beach but sometimes you need a little bit more to keep them entertained beyond the usual swimming and building of sandcastles. Here are a few ideas on how to make this day at the beach, the best ever!

1. Mini Golf In The Sand
Kids are natural pros at golf -- and this will help them further develop their hand-eye coordination. Simply pick up a set of kid-friendly plastic clubs and balls at the toy store or improvise with sticks and squash balls. Set up a few targets to aim for or dig holes in the sand to practice short putting.

2. Water Bucket Relay
Replace the old egg-and-spoon race with a water relay! Simply draw two lines about 5 metres apart in the sand, place a bucket filled with water at the start point, and an empty one at the end. Your kids will love the challenge of running with their scooped hands filled with water and emptying them into the bucket at the end. The team with the most water at the end wins (and gets to splash the losers!)

3. Play “Parachute”
Grab a large beach towel or blanket and a beach ball, hold the ends and sides of the towel/blanket with the ball in the middle of the towel, and see how high you can bounce that ball!
